I am pausing here for everyone to writhe in jealousy. KIDDING.
The reason why this gift was awesome wasn't because of the cost, or how useful the laptop could be... this gift was awesome because of the reason behind it. My old laptop had no battery... I couldn't unplug it anymore and bring it around. My fiance knows my favorite thing to do is to bring my laptop to Starbucks and blog, so he bought it for just that.
What's my point here?
My point is NOT that my favorite guy in the world gives great gifts. Any guy with a bank account can stumble upon Amazon.com and pick out something expensive. No, romantic comedies and fairy tales are made of are the guys who know what is actually the most important to you. Is it the class pass you want because you are a fitness nut? Is it a standing mixer so your cookies can't be beat? I didn't hint nor tell the love of my life what I was missing... first of all it was too expensive and secondly I'd never ask... he just knew. When someone knows your soul, they know what you want and what you need.
Girls, the guy who hands you a beer at a party when you're almost done isn't Prince Charming. He's trying to get in your pants. The guy who adores your hobbies... the guy who reads all of your blogs even though he doesn't love reading like you do... that is the kind of guy you start building your life with.
Here's to hoping all of you find a guy who knows your soul, who cares for it, cherishes, and gifts you in ways far greater than fancy electronics and shiny things. Here's to hoping the gifts that your love gives you gifts that inspire you. Here's to hoping that your happily ever after is as beautiful as mine is .
