Obviously, I've been there.
Here's a list of 10 things that I have spent a lot (seriously, ask my bank account and best friends... A LOT) of money on and have been totally worth it.
1) A Good Mattress: You spend about 30% (or if you're me, more like 45%) of your life sleeping/in bed. That is simply too much time to be unhappy with your environment. A mattress isn't just a comfort at NIGHT, it's an investment in your DAYS. A good night's sleep and a day without back pain to me is priceless.
2) Victoria's Secret Underwear and Pajamas: Everyone deserves a bit of luxury in their lives. Again, with the pajamas, you spend so much time sleeping... why hate your pajamas? My personal favorite are the jersey knit button up pajamas and the flannel pajamas for winter, and the sleep shirts in summer! Your entire day is also spent in underwear (hopefully) so why not wear a pair that makes you feel good? Insider Tip: Utilize the holidays and the semi-annual sales to snag deals on VS goodies. Additionally, if you open a VS gift card, you receive coupons for free underwear and special deals!
3) Brita Water Bottle: To everyone in the world this may sound prissy and "basic" but it has upped my water intake by 200%. It makes any water taste good anywhere and my hard sided filtered water bottle holds 32 oz.
4) Hunter Rain Boots: They are a bit on the expensive side, but they have lasted me now 4 years with no signs of wear and tear. Men who don't even know the brand tell me that those are "sensible shoes for wet weather and look really nice" (my chiropractor) and "those seem to work nicely" (my boyfriend.)
5) Sorel Snow Boots: I have owned many pairs of snow boots in my 25 year Midwestern life. None of which have offered the SIMULTANEOUS comfort, warmth and support of my Sorel boots. As warm as Uggs, but actually WATERPROOF (What were we thinking in college with our wet Uggs and therefore wet feet?) Sorel Boots can be found literally everywhere now (also can be found at sorel.com) They're changing the winter footwear game!
6) "Fancy Makeup" and "Daily Makeup": If you're a female, you possibly wear makeup daily. Your daily makeup should not make you break out or feel bad about yourself. Additionally, IT IS OKAY to buy makeup for weddings, dinners, etc. I personally have invested in makeup primer and a tube of Benefit Mascara for such events and I have never looked back. PICTURES ARE FOREVER PEOPLE! Make sure you like yourself in them!
7) Extra Phone Memory: I'll admit, this is a giant rip off and a huge investment when purchasing a phone. But I did it, and not ONCE have I ever had to delete a picture or app to do a software update nor have I ever had to miss out on a photo opportunity due to lack of memory. The convenience in the long run, to me, has been worth it.
8) A Good Haircut: Back to the bed thing- You spend 30% of your time in bed, but you spend 100% of your time in your hair! You spent $13 bucks on your haircut and hate it? WHY?! You are always in your hair! WHY HATE IT? Go to an ACTUAL salon where you pay a little more than you feel like you should so if you don't like it THEY WILL FIX IT!
9) Chiropractic Care: Not entirely covered by my insurance, and some might consider it "optional," but the impact it has had on my day-to-day aches and pains (yep... I still am 25) has been phenomenal. Basically, any health care upkeep is worth the investment. Your body is yours for your whole life, take care of it!
10) Matching Luggage: This is probably the most prissy thing on here. Whenever I go to the airport or on a trip with my friends/boyfriend/acquaintances EVERYONE knows when my bag comes onto the belt at the airport or off the bus. EVERYONE see's the giant pink bag that matches my pink tote bag that matches the Vera Bradley makeup bag and they start handing anything pink to me. This means if I lose a piece, there's a 90% chance that it will make it's way back to me! Trust me, it's a proven system that works.
Spend on my friends, spend on.
