STOP CHUGGING THE VODKA AND LISTEN TO ME FOR LIKE FIVE MINUTES.
Maybe just stop chugging the vodka all together.
At this point in your life, you are desperately clinging to a man… any man… who you think could MAYBE be “the one.”
Stop that.
Nobody finds true love in college. Ok. Like 10% of people actually find true love in college. Name 10 relationships that you know of happening in your friend circle RIGHT NOW. I’ll wait. Yeah. ONLY ONE OF THOSE COUPLES ACTUALLY GOT MARRIED.
Trippy right?
Next on the agenda is this: START TAKING CARE OF YOURSELF.
All night study sessions, I will admit, are productive. But they are KILLING your skin, immune system, spirit… etc. You could EASILY have made a schedule for doing all of this studying all through the semester. You are more organized than you are pretending to be. Get your shenanigans TOGETHER.
PICK BETTER FRIENDS.
The people you only see on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at parties are not your friends. The people you study with on Tuesdays and laugh into Wednesdays and have standing Sunday night Noodles and Company dates with… those are your ACTUAL friends. Stop reaching for the approval of a bunch of alcoholics with their own house and start remembering what qualities you admire in a person.
DON’T LEAVE HIGH SCHOOL BEHIND.
I realize that like 98% of people go to college to leave high school behind. The truth of the matter is, sometimes you need your high school buddies to remind you and help preserve the best parts of who you are. THAT IS OKAY. There is not a contract for college that says you must denounce your high school friends. Make the effort to visit them. Go home for the homecoming game. Plan a weekend away.
START CHASING YOUR DREAMS NOW!
So many people said, “Oh I would like to work________ when I graduate.” The only people I know who are actually where they set out to go are the ones who started working towards it WHILE STILL IN SCHOOL. This is the time to swallow your pride and take that unpaid internship. This is the time to embarrass yourself with no experience and no skills. I promise you, the time is now… not when you are 26.
REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE.
If you weren’t always the party girl… why are you trying to be now? If you weren’t ever interested in business… who are you trying to impress? Colleges are full of people. Find ones that like what you like and stick with them. Stop trying. It will embarrass you someday.
You will be okay. I promise.
Love,
Future Brittney.
