*A "dump dinner" is where you pre-prepare the ingredients for the meal and place them all together in a ziploc bag. When ready to consume, you literally "dump" the bag of ingredients in the slow cooker, turn it on, and wait!
We have tried: Hawaiian Pork Chops, BBQ Chicken, Pot Roast, and Chicken Parmesan.
Recipes and Official Verdicts (in descending order of awesome-ness):
4. BBQ Chicken: One cup of BBQ sauce, ¼ cup Italine Dressing, ¼ cup brown sugar, 2 tsp worcestershire sauce, 4-6 boneless skinless chicken breasts. Cooked on low for 6-8 hours.
Verdict: They smelled REAL bad in the bag and not so bad once cooking. To be honest, I don’t really LOVE BBQ so that could play into this rating.
3. Hawaiian Pork Chops: One 20oz can of pineapple chunks, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1lb boneless pork chops, cooked on low for 4-6 hours.
Verdict: Somehow we both felt like they would be better if they were Hawaiian Chicken Breasts but they weren’t too bad!
2. Pot Roast: 1 and ½ cups beef stock, 1lb medium red potatoes, 1 cup baby carrots, ¼ cup dijon mustard, 2 teaspoons dried crushed rosemary, 1 teaspoon garlic salt, ½ teaspoon dried thyme, ⅓ cup chopped onion. Add in 3-4 lbs boneless beef chuck when ready to cook. Cook on low for 6-8 hours.
Verdict: HELLA good. Most prep work for a slow cooker recipe so far, but once it was all in the bag (separate from the meat) and then all of it in the slow cooker, it smelled amazing and it was really tender and delicious.
1. Chicken Parmesan: One can of pasta sauce, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tbsp Italian Seasoning, 4-6 Chicken Breasts. (Optional: Mozzarella Cheese for garnish.) Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 4-5 hours. When ready to serve, cook spaghetti noodles. Plate the noodles, top with the sauce from the slow cooker, top with a chicken breast and sprinkle some mozzarella cheese on top!
Verdict: BEST ONE SO FAR! Delicious and filling. Cannot wait to have the leftovers!
