I was on the train this week heading downtown. A few
weeks ago I did the same thing as I was heading to jury duty so I felt pretty
comfortable with the whole process. That was, until, the conductor came up to me
and asked if I needed a High School Student ticket.
I AM A FREAKING
COLLEGE GRADUATE.
I brushed this first issue off, but when the next
conductor asked me if I needed a child's ticket, I got mad.
It wasn't
that I did not have makeup on. It wasn't that I was dressed childishly. I just
look so dang YOUNG.
Back to the topic: Is there such a thing as looking
TOO young?
People don't generally take me seriously. I used to think it
was a "blond" thing, then I thought it was the long blond hair thing, then I
thought it was my "student" look... now I am realizing that there is not much I
can do to fix it.
What do we do about this?
I walk into an
interview and people think I am freaking Doogie Howser.
I go to a store
to get a box of NyQuil and I get carded.
I GOT ID-ed AT A PG-13 MOVIE FOR
CHRIST'S SAKE!
This is getting out of hand.
One theory I have is
that I am part vampire. I have told this to exactly three people who have
laughed at me. I take that to mean that I am not, in fact, any kind of
supernatural being. That was kind of a bummer considering I have noticed that
Edward Cullen doesn't have student loans.
I am getting really good at
getting off topic....
The point is, that this "feature" is hindering my
abilities to progress in any kind of career. I am going to be someone's
assistant for the rest of my life.
*Insert Panic Attack*
Any
suggestions on jobs for people who look awkwardly young for their age? Cause MY
plan B is "child star"...
