I get it, these days, it is routine (or compulsion) to be totally immersed in your phone whilst the world goes on around you for background noise. I even understand an occasional emergency call. But up until recently, I was completely unaware that people in 2016 (yep, it is 2016 now) have the BLATANT DISRESPECT to be on their phones during movies.
I went to see Jennifer Lawrence in "Joy" recently and the person behind me received text after text WITH THEIR SOUND ON. As if this were not bad enough, she had her KEYBOARD CLICKS ON.
How is it, that society's greatest joke is the cost of a movie and popcorn, yet we cannot respect our cash and each other enough to ensure that money does not go to waste!? If you cannot respect your own wallet to do so, perhaps you should take a look around at the people who's experience you are intruding upon and have some COMMON COURTESY!
Also, side note to all my fellow feminists out there but JOY was the most empowering female movie I have ever seen (almost) and the chick behind me MISSED ALL OF THAT BECAUSE SHE WAS ANSWERING CALLS AND TEXTS! Maybe next time we feminists should skip our bra burning weekend and find people like that who fricken MISS THE POINT.
In conclusion, if you go to the movies with me and leave your phone on/use it during the film I will spend the rest of your $10.50 texting hour pouring your $14.50 popcorn into your pants.
That is all.
